Technology is the use of scientific knowledge for practical purposes or applications in our daily lives. Nowadays technology has become an integral part of everyday work. At present we have many improvements in the advancement of technology which will be more advanced in the upcoming future. Technology has the power to do many things. This article describes those five technologies which can change the world and probably which will influence us in the coming decades. The five technologies are as follows:
Technologies have the power to dominate the industry and will bring a drastic change to the world.
Artificial Intelligence
Artificial Intelligence(AI) is the intelligence demonstrated by machines unlike the natural intelligence displayed by humans and animals. It is the simulation of human intelligence by machines or computer systems. It includes learning, reasoning and self-correction.AI is rapidly changing our world and powering the fourth industrial revolution. Data science and advancement in computing power have helped to progress AI in recent times.AI can also be used by governments and organizations to identify suspicious behaviors and can take necessary actions. The excellence in AI is the strength to make decisions that provide likelihood in achieving a definite goal.
Applications of AI:
- Treatment of medical data of patients
- Predictive maintenance in IT and industries
- Detection of geophysical characteristics like calamities
- Object tracking
- Providing cybersecurity
- Self-driving automobiles etc…
Types of AI:
There are four types of AI. They are:
- Reactive machines
- Limited memory
- Theory of mind
- Self-awareness
- Artificial intelligence is advancing dramatically and transforming our world socially, economically, and politically.
3D Printing
3D printing is the construction of a three-dimensional object from a digital model. It is also called additive manufacturing. 3D printing requires software, hardware, and materials to do work together. It is high-speed with mass-adopted and cheap enough.
3D printing requires less labor and reduces the need for imports. It can convert prototypes and simple parts into highly technical products. Such as airplane parts, medical implants, and even artificial organs using layers of the human body. 3D printing is applicable in all kinds of fields. There are idea of Self Replicating 3D Printers too which is very interesting and innovating.
Methods of 3D printing:
- Fused Filament Fabrication (FFF)
- Stereolithography (SLA)
- Selective Laser Sintering (SLS)
Applications:
- Education
- Prototyping and manufacturing
- Medicines
- Construction
- Art and Jewelry.
Blockchain
Blockchain has a tremendous impact on the trade supply chain. It was introduced to address global trade issues such as security, high-costs, and transparency. It is used to simplify the tedious problems and provide them a solution. A simple analogy for understanding blockchain in gOOgle doc. The documents that are created are distributed instead of copying and transferring. So Digital assets are distributed and assets are decentralized, which allows full real-time access. A transparent ledger of changes will preserve the integrity of the document.
Benefits of blockchain:
- Greater transparency
- Security enhancement
- Traceability is improved
- Increased inefficiency and speed
- Costs are reduced
Disadvantages of blockchain:
- Data modification is difficult
- Private key or asymmetric cryptography
- Highly ineffective
- It requires 200gb of storage
IoT and edge
IoT and edge have the potential to change the world. We see that large scale development is done using Smart cities, electric vehicles, smart surveillance, medical applications, etc. IoT and edge have to be integrated into AI and Ml into the IoT platform. In the upcoming years, we see much power for the AI-powered IoT deployments across different sectors.
Benefits of IoT and edge:
- Data security is increased
- Operational costs are reduced
- Unlimited scalability
- Efficiency and reliability is increased
Disadvantages of IoT and edge:
- Redundancy is limited
- Corruption of data
- Higher risk
- Longer outage time
Autonomous vehicles
Self-driving vehicles will change the world . Driverless car technology is already available and has so much potential that it’s almost impossible at this point for it not to transform our world in the coming years.
Tesla’s ( Autopilot system — one of the most well-known semi-autonomous systems — can control the car by itself for most freeway driving. The company is even expected to show a fully autonomous trip across the country by the end of the year. All new Tesla’s come equipped with fully autonomous driver-less hardware (like ultrasonic sensors, cameras, and radar) and the company plans to continually roll out new levels of automation as its vehicles learn more.
Tesla certainly isn’t the only automaker betting on this. Ford and General Motors are both leading in the semi-autonomous space by developing their own self-driving technologies and experimenting with car-sharing services that could be at the center of an autonomous vehicle world.
Autonomous vehicles are much more important than just having a new way to get around town, though. These vehicles have driving abilities superior to humans’ because of their on-board supercomputers, sensors, and artificial intelligence. These vehicles will be far less prone to accidents than ones driven by humans and once they become ubiquitous, they are estimated to result in 300,000 lives saved per decade, in the United States alone.
Conclusion:
Technologies will pose difficult challenges to governance in both domestic and cross-border. Both public and private holders must work closely to establish the framework for the new emerging technologies. Advancement in technology will improve the international trade in the upcoming future. Which helps ous ineffective trade growth in the years to come. Proper usage of this holds a bright future for us.
